We strive for a more just and sustainable world

We seek to understand the complexity of urgent social, political, and ecological problems and develop leaders who are prepared to find solutions to these challenges through collaborative scholarship and innovation.

From the Director

The Department of Sustainability and Social Justice represents a reimagining of International Development, Community, and Environment (IDCE), which was established at Clark University in 2000. This reimagining is driven by the challenges of an ever-more complex world. These challenges motivate us to act and they inform our mission and our approach.
